Materials:

Light Worsted Weight Yarn (2 Skeins Caron Simply Soft)

I 5.50mm Crochet Hook

Yarn Needle

Difficulty:

Special Stitches

Picot: Chain 3. SS into the third chain from hook. Skip the next stitch.

Stitches:

CH: Chain- Yarn over pull through one loop.

SS: Slip stitch- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over and pull through both the stitch and loop on the hook.

DC: Double crochet- Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops.

SC: Single crochet- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops.

HDC: Half double crochet- Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through three stitches.

Puff:  [Yarn over. Draw up loop] a total of 3x’s. Yarn over draw through all 7 loops on the hook.

Intructions:

Row 1: Chain 5. Dc in the 5 chain from hook.

Row 2: Chain 4. (Counts as first Dc and chain 1 space). (Puff. Chain 1.) a total of 4 times. Dc in the same space.

Row 3: Chain 5. (Counts as first Dc and 2 chains.) Dc in same space as chain space. Chain 5. Skip the next puff shell. [Dc. Chain 2. Dc] in the top of the turning chain.

Row 4: Chain 4.(Counts as first Dc and chain 1 space). (Puff. Chain 1.) a total of 4 times in the next chain 2 space. Drop Dc in the center of the puff shell from previous round. Chain 1. (Puff. Chain 1.) a total of 4 times in the next chain 2 space. Dc in the top of the turning chain.

Row 5: Chain 5. (Counts as first Dc and 2 chains.) Dc in same space as chain space. *Chain 5. Skip the next puff shell. [Dc. Chain 2. Dc] in the next dc.* Repeat from * to * across making your final [Dc. Chain 2. Dc.] in the top of the turning chain.

Row 6: Chain 4.(Counts as first Dc and chain 1 space). *(Puff. Chain 1.) a total of 4 times in the next chain 2 space. Drop Dc in the center of the puff shell from previous round. Chain 1.* Repeat from * to * across making a Dc in the top turning chain.

Repeat round 5 and 6 until you reach 50 rows.

Border

To begin the border don’t turn your work and work down the side of the shawl.

Row 1: Chain 1. 2sc in the side of each row across until 1 row remains. [Sc 4. Chain 2. Sc 3.] in row 1. (Corner made.) 2 Sc in the side of each row across. (203 Sc + 1 Chain 2 space)

Row 2: Chain 1. Sc in same space as chain. *Chain 5. Skip 3. Sc.* Repeat* from * to * to the chain 2 space. Chain 5. Skip the chain 2 space. Sc in the next stitch. *Chain 5. Skip 3. Sc.* Repeat from * to * across until 5 stitches remain. Chain 5. Skip 4. Sc in the last stitch. (51 Chain 5 Spaces)

Row 3: Chain 5 (Counts as first Dc and chain 2 space.) Sc in the next chain 5 space. *9Dc in the next cahin 5 space. Sc in the next cahin 5 space. Chain 5. Sc in the next chain 5 space. Chain 5. Sc in the next chain 5 space.* Repeat from * to * to the last chain 5 space. Chain 2. Dc in the last stitch.

Row 4:  Chain 1. Sc in same space as chain. Skip the next chain 2 space. [Dc. Chain 1.] 8x’s. Dc in the next stitch. *Sc in the next Chain 5 space. Chain 5. Sc in the next chain 5 space. [Dc. Chain 1.] 8x’s. Dc in the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * across. Sc in the last stitch.

Row 5: Chain 1. Sc in the space as chain. *Sc in the next 4 stitches. Picot. Sc in the next 3 stitches. Picot. Sc in the next 3 stitches. Picot. Sc in the next 3 stitches. [Sc. Picot. Sc 3. Picot. Sc.] in the next chain 5 space.* Repeat from * to * across. Sc in the last stitch.

Finish off. Weave in ends.
