I 5.50mm Crochet Hook

Stitches:

CH: Chain- Yarn over pull through one loop.

SS: Slip stitch- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over and pull through both the stitch and loop on the hook.

DC: Double crochet- Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops.

SC: Single crochet- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops.

FPDC: Yarn over. Insert hook around the front to back and around stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops.

BPDC: Yarn over. Insert hook around the stitch front back to front into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops.

Special Stitches:

Starting Crossed Dc: Dc in the first stitch. Chain 2. Work backwards and Dc in the previous stitch. (This will be worked in the last stitch of the previous round.)

Crossed Dc: Skip the next stitch. Dc. Chain 2. Dc in the skipped stitch.

Notes:

  • Turning chain does NOT count as your first stitch (unless otherwise specified). So, when working flat, be sure to work your first stitch in the very first stitch. And when working in the round, be sure to work your first stitch in the same stitch as join.

Instructions:

Chain 9

Row 1: Sc in the second chain from hook and each chain across. (8 Sc)

Row 2 – 69: Chain 1. Sc in the BLO across. (8 Sc)

Join with a series of SS to join row 69 to row 1.

Round 1: Chain 1. Sc in the side of each row around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made. (69 Sc.)

Round 2: Chain 2. *(Dc. Chain 2. Dc.) in the next stitch. Skip the next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made. (23 V-stitches)

Round 3: Chain 1. *FpDc around the next stitch. Puff in the next chain 2 space.  Chain 1. FpDc around the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.

Round 4: Chain 1. Beginning Crossed FpDc. Skip the next puff and Dc. *Crossed FpDc. Skip the next puff and Dc.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.

Round 5 – 23:  Repeat rounds 3 – 4. Ending with round 3.

Round 24: (Only working with the Dcs) Chain 2. FpDc4tog around. the next 4 stitches. Repeat around until 2 stitches remain. FpDc2tog. Join with a SS to the first stitch made.

Round 25: Chain 2. FpDc2tog around. Join with a SS to the first stitch made.

Finish off leaving a long tail to weave top shut.
