Valerie’s First Birthday Dress (12-18 months) Crochet Pattern

In celebration of my daughters upcoming first birthday, I decided to design  this Valerie’s First Birthday Dress! I’m very excited about this one! It’s time to break out two of your favorite colors because we are going in!

Materials:

Light Worsted Weight Yarn
G 4.25mm Crochet Hook
F3.75mm Crochet Hook
Yarn Needle

Sizes:

12-18 months

Stitches:

CH: Chain- Yarn over pull through one loop.
SS: Slip stitch- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over and pull through both the stitch and loop on the hook.
DC: Double crochet- Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops.
SC: Single crochet- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops.

Abbreviations:

AC: Accent Color (Pink)

MC: Main Color (White)

BLO: Back Loops Only

Instructions:

With G 4.25mm Crochet hook

Waist Band (AC)

Chain 8.
Row 1: In second chain from hook make one Sc. Sc across. (7)

Row 2: Chain 1. Sc in BLO all the way across. (7)

Repeat row 2 until you have a total of 68.

Finish off

Using a yarn needle join your final row to the beginning chains.

Skirt (MC)

*Working along side each row of the waist band*

Join with a slip stitch to Row 1 of the waistband.

Round 1: Chain 1. *Sc in the next 3 stitches. 3Sc in the next stitch*. Reapeat from * to * all the way around. Join with a SS to the first stitch made. (102).

Round 2: Chain 4 (counts as first Dc and ch 1 space.). Dc in same space. Skip the next stitch. *(Dc, ch 1, Dc) in same stitch. Skip the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * all the way around. Join with a SS to 3rd chain of beginning chain. (51 V’s)

Round 3: SS in the next chain 1 space. chain 4 (counts as first Dc and ch 1 space.). Dc in same space.  *(Dc, ch 1, Dc) in the next chain 1 space.* Repeat from * to * all the way around. Join with a SS to 3rd chain of beginning chain. (51 V’s)

Reapeat row 3 til desired length.

 

Skirt Trim (AC)

Round 1: Chain 1. Sc in same space and each Dc and chain space all the way around. Join with a SS to the first stitch made.

Round 2: Chain 1. Sc in same stitch as join. Chain 3. *Skip the next Sc. Sc. Chain 3*. Repeat from * to * all the way around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Finish off skirt trim.

 

Bodice (MC)

Switch to F 3.75mm Crochet Hook

Join with a SS to row 1 of the waistband (on top)

Round 1: Chain 4 (counts as first Dc and ch 1 space.). Dc in same space. Skip the next stitch. *(Dc, ch 1, Dc) in same stitch. Skip the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * all the way around. Join with a SS to 3rd chain of beginning chain. (34 V’s)

Round 2: SS in the next chain 1 space. chain 4 (counts as first Dc and ch 1 space.). Dc in same space.  *(Dc, ch 1, Dc) in the next chain 1 space.* Repeat from * to * all the way around. Join with a SS to 3rd chain of beginning chain. (34 V’s)

Row 3: Chain 3. Dc in same space.  *(Dc, ch 1, Dc) in the next chain 1 space.* Repeat from * to * a total of 11 times. Skip 1 stitch. Dc.

Row 4: SS across the first 4 stitches. Chain 3. *(Dc, ch 1, Dc) in the next chain 1 space.* Repeat from * to * a total of 9 times. Skip 1 stitch. Dc.

Begin Right Strap

Row 5: Chain 3.  *(Dc, ch 1, Dc) in the next chain 1 space.* Repeat from * to * a total of 4 times.

Row 6: SS across the first 4 stitches. Chain 3.  *(Dc, ch 1, Dc) in the next chain 1 space.* Repeat from * to * a total of 3 times. Skip 1 stitch. Dc.

Row 7: Chain 3.  *(Dc, ch 1, Dc) in the next chain 1 space.* Repeat from * to * a total of 2 times. Skip 1 stitch. Dc.

Row 8:SS across the first 4 stitches. Chain 3. (Dc, ch 1, Dc) in the next chain 1 space. Skip 1 stitch. Dc.

Row 9: Chain 3. (Dc, ch 1, Dc) in the next chain 1 space. Skip 1 stitch. Dc.

Row 10-21: Repeat Row 9. Finish Off

Begin Left Strap

With wrong side facing, Join with a SS to the end of Row 4.

Repeat Rows 5-21. Finish off.

Join straps evenly to the back of the bodice.

Make a Single Crochet edging around the neckline and arm holes.

Weave in all ends.
