Materials:

H 5.00mm Crochet Hook (24 months and 2T)

I 5.50mm Crochet Hook (3T and 4T)

Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn (600 yards)

  • 2.5 Skeins of Lavender
  • 2 Skeins of Mint

3 Buttons

Difficulty:

Intermediate

Stitches:

CH: Chain- Yarn over pull through one loop.

SS: Slip stitch- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over and pull through both the stitch and loop on the hook.

Tr: Treble- Yarn over 2 times. Insert hook around the stitch front back to front into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops.

DC: Double crochet- Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops.

SC: Single crochet- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops.

Notes:

  • For the bodice and button hole rows, you will not work in the final turning chain for the rows.

Instructions:

Bodice (Mint):

Chain 60

Row 1: Dc in 3rd chain from Hook. Sc in the next chain. *Dc. Sc.* Repeat from * to * across. (58 stitches.)

Row 2 – 11: Chain 2. Dc in the same stitch as chain. Sc in the next stitch. *Dc. Sc.* Repeat from * to * across. (58 stitches.)

Skirt (Lavender):

Round 1: Chain 4 (Counts as first Dc and chain 1 space). Dc in same space as chain. Skip the next stitch. *(Dc. Chain 1. Dc. Chain 1. Dc.) in the next stitch. Skip the next stitch. (Dc. Chain 1. Dc.) in the next stitch. Skip the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc (top of chain 3).

Round 2 -16: SS into the chain 1 space. Chain 4 (Counts as first Dc and chain 1 space.) Dc in the same chain 1 space. (Dc. Chain 1. Dc.) in each chain 1 space around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made(top of chain 3). (43 V-stitches.)

Color Change (Mint):

Round 17: SS into the chain 1 space. Chain 4 (Counts as first Dc and chain 1 space.) Dc in the same chain 1 space. (Dc. Chain 1. Dc.) in each chain 1 space around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made(top of chain 3). (43 V-stitches.)

Color Change (Lavender):

Round 18: SS into the chain 1 space. Chain 4 (Counts as first Dc and chain 1 space.) Dc in the same chain 1 space. (Dc. Chain 1. Dc.) in each chain 1 space around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made(top of chain 3). (43 V-stitches.)

Color Change (Mint):

Counting each individual Dc and chain as a stitch (43 v stitches = 129 stitches.)

Round 19: Chain 1. Sc in the same space. Chain 3. Skip the next stitch. *Sc in the next stitch. Chain 3. Skip the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * around. Skipping the last 2 stitches on the final repeat. Join with a SS to the first Sc made. (64 Chain 3 spaces.)

Round 20: SS into the next chain. Chain 1. *[Sc in the next chain 3 space. Chain 3.] x’s. 2. Sc in the next chain 3 space. 7Dc in the next chain 3 space.* Repeat from * to * around.  Join with  SS to the first Sc made.

Round 21: SS into the next chain. Chain 1. *Sc in the next chain 3 space. Chain 3. Sc in the next chain 3 space. (Dc. Chain 1.) over the next 2 Dc. Tr. Chain 1. (Tr. Chain 3. SS to 3 chain. Tr. Chain 1.) in the next Dc. Tr. Chain 1. Dc. Chain 1. Dc.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Finish off. Weave ends.

Button Holes:

Row 1: Join with a SS to indicated stitch. Sc in each stitch across. (17)

Row 2: Chain 1. Sc in the same stitch as chain. Sc across. (17)

Row 3: Chain 1. Sc in the same stitch as chain. Sc in the next stitch. *Chain 2. Skip the next 2 stitches. Sc in the next 3 stitches.* repeat from * to * across. (11 Sc + 3 chain 2 spaces.)

Round 4 – 5: Chain 1. Sc in the same stitch as chain. Sc across. (17)

Finish off. Weave in ends.

Straps (Mint):

Join with a SS to desired strap location. (I skipped 10 stitches in the center of the front.)

Row 1: Chain 1. Sc in the next 4 stitches. (4)

Rows 2-28: Chain 1. Sc in the same stitch as chain. Sc across. (4)

Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew to desired strap location on the back of the bodice.
